Hi JCL,

I remembered your name from chat. I like your house quilt. My sit and stitch each made a different house block for my house quilt and I added a variety of trees. I can post a picture when I learn how.

You did a great job  The trees are the perfect touch - and the binding!

I like! I was looking at your quilting. Did you quilt this as you were putting the blocks together or when the top was completed? Love the houses and a very quaint idea to do this for him.

I quilted it after it was together. I tried a few more complicated designs but kept coming back to the block inside a block. It looks similar to a log cabin. I didn't want anything girly. I like hand quilting so it wasn't easy for me to keep the plain blocks that plain but I wanted a simple quilt and that is what I got.

Wow, that is great! I tried doing a house block and found it really complicated, ended up way too small!

The house on the forest quilting site was too small so I took it to a copy place and had them blow it up about 75% and then made copies from that. There were 12 seams left to right across the house and to have each house turn out the exact same size wasn't happening. It should with paper piecing, but it didn't so they needed to be squared up to the same size before I joined them together as a quit top. I was glad the quilt was going to a non-sewing male.

I took the pattern off the site and then had it blown up. My printer would double it, and that make it too large and I couldn't get it at 75% enlargement so my hubby took it in to have it blown up at a copy store.
the house has twelve seems across, left to right and to make all the houses with different material, They did not turn out all the same so I had to square them up before I put them together. It's paper pieced so one would think they would all end up exactly the same size but they didn't in my world. I'm just glad the quilt was going to a non-sewing guy.
