My inheritance

Oh, I should have told you what I'm doing with some of my mom's stash....you may want to do this.
I'm making twin sized quilts for my sister's grandchildren using some of mom's fabrics in each one. On the label I stitch a small square of momma's fabric so they'll always know which ones came from her stash. Of course I include that info on the label. The kids are loving it and it's a good way to use her fabrics for a memory quilt without using up all the fabrics right away. (I've decided to put some aside in case other sisters want some of her fabrics or a quilt or two with them.)
And yes, my sister is paying me to do this. I charge less than I normally do for a quilt because we're sisters, but my time and supplies are valuable. Besides she has 10 grandchildren!

What a treasure you have. Enjoy it and the memories it brings. My mother tied up her remnants like that too. I even remember having feed sack dresses in the 50's. I wish I had her old treadle machine too. I remember playing on the treadle while she sewed - that must have been helpful!
