Beautiful! Aren't log cabins fun? I've tried various ways to make the block: pre-cutting the strips and attaching them that way, or sewing the block onto strips and cutting after sewing. Make sure you try both ways! I started with the second method and ended up liking the first method better.

i started (this project) with your first method- pre-cutting the strips - have been thinking about making a set of placemats to go with this runner- maybe i will try your second method with those- Is there are big difference in the outcome? just wondering why it would make a difference...guess i should give it a try & see.
