Those quilts fascinate me. You selected great fabric for this design.

Native Texan ... oh yes, go for it! They are so addictive and so fun.
I'd love to do more and often look at fabrics, thinking of them as candidates!
I just love the surprise that every block gives.

Donna Pea ... Thank you! ... maybe we have inspired you to do one for yourself?

Wildyard ... yes there are so many setting possibilities for 4PPs, as with many quilts.
Cutting the 4Ps as tris instead of squares is a really nice spin.
I didn't know about that when I did mine, or else I surely would have!

Beautiful fabric and amazing how so many different squares you can get out of the same fabric. Love the black background-it makes the squares really pop out.

Thanks Jordan ... that's the joy of these quilts, as every block is a surprise.
You just can't stop, as you want to see what the next combo creates!
The black is actually my design wall.
The quilt was finished up with purple, gold and green ... no black!

Not sure what you mean about cutting tris instead of squares for the 4PP. Mine is squares set on point with the triangle corners added to make them square in a square. I'd definitely be interested in doing tris too.

Instead of cutting the squares, as you and I did .... you cut a big square, then diagonally across the square, for two piles of triangles. Then join each stack back up as a square.

Here's a link showing how to do it .....

Thinking a bit further here ....
Better to make the square larger, and cut with an X to create four piles of triangles.
That way you eliminate bias edges at the outside edge of each 4PP.

When you make a 4PP w/ triangles you only have one option for laying out the pieces, all 90' points to the inside. So if you are indecisive or don't want to agonize over which layout is the prettiest that is the way to go. If you make them w/ squares you have 4 different options for each stack (4 90' points) that can be a better option if you have a tight repeat and want to minimize how many duplicates you are making. You can also minimize the duplicates by choosing a strip size not evenly divisible into the repeat size. (if your repeat is 8 inches go w/ an odd number like 3 inches)

Another way to get a different look to the stacks and avoid repeat designs ,whether 4PP, OBW or SAW ....

.... is to fully cut your repeat fully, then before cutting the next repeat, cut off an inch or WHY,
so that you shift where you are cutting for the next series of stacks.
