This is beautiful. Is the outside section blocks or is it fabric print. It goes perfectly with the mariner's compass.

Okay now, I am blushing. Thanks for the compliment. There is a secret to making the Storm at Sea and that is, don't make it into blocks, make units and sew them together. 1st, the square in a square in a square units(all of them, 2nd, the square in a square(small one, and then 3rd, the diamond but I split mine into a triangle rather than the diamond. I wanted the ability to change the ends of the diamonds into two separate colors and used Doreen Speckman's "Peekie and Spike" templates for it. Then you sew it in rows of the diamond unit and the small square in a square together into rows, and then the next row is the diamond and the big square in a square in a square. If you break it down that way, it is easy. Long process but easy!!! Good luck! Jan

It is pieced and I cut every one of those buggers. Thought I would never get done, didn't try to keep track of how many I needed, just kept cutting. Ended up with lots of extras!!! :x
