I found this on craigslist for 100 and I'll be bringing her home Sunday! her owner passed and the family is downsizing. yes its a sphinx
I was told shes from the 1890s and is a treadle in beautiful condition from what I can see in the photos.
I'm so excited, I have not even test driven her so I'm praying she works
Thank you for your compliments and for all your photos and postings.
Any idea what shes really worth? I am curious i know i got a bargin

I'm so excited to have her

I'll bet she'll work just fine - and gosh, is it ever pretty - those look like the "sphinx" decals on it - I don't think I've ever seen a 15 with those decals.

You're in for some real fun! :) What a great machine to treadle!

gorgeous!!!!!! you can go to www.singerco.com and there is a place where you can put in the serial number and it will help you date the machine.

If you are happy with your purchase and the price, then of course you got a bargin! :) Make sure that you write down what you know of the history of the machine and tuck it in one of the drawers for future generations! (Include names and dates if you can)

She's a pretty baby, in a pretty cabinet! Congrats!

your cabinet is much prettier than this one and the asking price is $349.00, so i guess you got a deal. however, when i browsed them, i didn't see any from before 1900. i don't know if that matters to you. it sure wouldn't to me.

edit: click on the 3 images to get the full flavor of the bean.

She's a beauty and looks to have been well cared for. You will soooooo enjoy sewing with her. Price is quite fair.
