I had my fabrics in plastic totes also and I found them to be too hard to find the fabrics I wanted to work with, had to go through all of them. I bought a 48 x 60 cabinet with doors and shelves and now I just have to move small stacks to get to my longer, larger pices in the back. So much nicer.

Sun will ruin your fabrics.

I would make some kind of covering for the left open sided of your shelving so that you don't get fade lines in your folded fabric pieces. I was refolding a quilt that was drapped across the back of a chair near a bedroom window & discovered that the borders have faded in parts of my border.
