    Default My New Thread Cabinet

In the spring I bought a new embroidery machine and realized I didn't have enough storage room for thread. I sew in the dining room, which is actually more like an over-sized breakfast nook. Most everything in the room is from the 40's. So I needed thread storage that would not look terribly out of place.

While out at a salvage store I noticed an old transom window, it had fake stained glass but the wood and the hardware was from an old Charleston home. Using an antique piece of glass I had from years ago in place of the plastic, my dad made me a thread cabinet. It turned out really well. It needs a final coat of paint now that it is in place, but overall I'm super pleased with how it turned out. Each row with the thread twists slightly so that it keeps a low profile when closed but still is easy to get the thread off the little poles when closed.

Now that it is finally cool again, it is time to sew again and I have a place to store my thread.

That is TOTALLY awesome! Sounds like it will fit in perfectly & your dad did a fantastic job on transforming that window. I bet he can make other things for you as well.
