My recent fabric splurge
#1
So I got a little money for Christmas - for the first time in a long time. So I did some on-line shopping. Here is what the delivery guys brought me this week.
Ohio Valley Mussings
This is a pattern that I have been looking for for years. I found an ad for it in a copy of a magazine that was donated to the Friends of the Library. I finally found the magazines about 3 weeks ago. They should be in my eager little hands this week.
I started my fabric search with a FatQuarter set from Fabric.com - Moda's Remembrance. I was 40 FQ for $71 - regularly $99.98. I found some of the larger fabrics that I needed at Fabric.com. I found a Civil War quilt backing on sale for $7.98/108" yard. Three of the additional fabrics were from Connecting Threads - all three were 'printing errors'. They barely show and will probably disappear when cut into pieces. Their prices were - are you ready - $2.28/yd. I even found a neat 'second' fabric that will work for the background on this quilt.
Quilts of Valor
This is a pattern that I put together on EQ7. There will be two identical quilts - all except the prints in each one. The print that is pictured on top I felt was a little swirly/pretty to go to a man, so also bought the second print for the moe 'manly' one. I know that the website said there was a need for ones that were a little more femine and I think this fits the bill.
Some Enchanted Needle
I purchase this pattern from a wonderful woman on this board and was trying to do a duplicate of the cover quilt. I really love the black/batik one but the price was way out of my range and really didn't want to make a duplicate of the original.
I found all of these pieces from Connecting Threads. The jelly rolls are their fabric line 'Sip of Summer' and the solid is one of their Mirage fabrics. And believe it or not, the burgandy was decided on with only screen shots of the colors. And I Love it. BTQ, the strips were on clearance at $5.79ea - I bought 4. So all of the fabric for the top cost me a little over $40. And I LOVE the feel of their fabric.
