I used the toilet paper roll for binding just a couple days ago. Ran a length of ribbon thru it and hung it around my neck.

On a smaller piece of binding, I just wrapped it around an empty thread spool---------with the ribbon

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE BINDING HOLDER IDEA!

LOVE IT!!!!! Ummmm, it's too nice to step on with no shoes either! I would be afraid to have it on my floor.
Nice colors and very nice piecing!
    Two thumbs up!

ok, call me dence, but how did you sew the strips together, in rows??, then sewed the rows together?? Did you use any size some of the pieces look smaller. Or did you swuare it off?? What are the demensions of the rug?? I'm thinking a table runner. I like what you did very ingenious of you

QuiltE is right, have fun!!!! I started with 2 1/2 x 8 in strip. sewed the strips together to make long strips.....using the flip and sew method......I staggered them on the flip and sew.to make it look like bricks...... 24x45 rug.... I used a piece of muslin to measure the size I wanted and then sewed to that..... A table runner would be awesome!!!
