My son's finished quilt!
#1
This one presented a whole bunch of firsts - first time using triangles, first time using cornerstones, first time attempting free hand quilting...sorta. I don't have a FM foot, so the stars were done free-ish hand with a walking foot and lots of turning, stuffing and fluffing. LOL The backing is fleece, with no batting, and I first tried a "self binding" (another first, there!)...I will never try that again with fleece. I did a whole lot of frog stitching there...I ended up doing the purple binding, attaching it on the back first with a dec stitch on front...another first! You can see the quilting better on the back, I used a variegated blue thread - don't mind the flares of light...it must have picked up some glitter from the basement floor...DD's Barbie "glitterizer" thing is down there...
I brought it up to take pictures and DS was so upset when I took it back down to wash. It needed to be washed before I give it to him because of all of the starch and stuff I used...and, well, you know babies, *everything* goes in the mouth!
