my grandad made granny a quilting frame from 2 sawhorses and 2 long pieces of 2x2's(lumber) and 2 shorter pieces to connect the s.h.'s ( to keep them steady). He bore holes in the sawhorses and the 2x2's and got large bolts to fit the holes. layed the shorter 2x2 then the longer ones2x2's on the sawhorses then inserted the bolts . Before that he had made a frame that hung from the ceiling and could be pulled up when not in use.

That is a wonderful surprise. What kind of clamps are you going to use? I see that it looks easy to make. Did he make it from plans or just did it? Might make one for myself as I will have lots of fittings and pipe left over from an upcoming greenhouse project.
