    What an adorable quilt! You've done so much really nice hand quilting on it already I think it would be a shame to take it out! You don't have much to go now!

    I would not take out the hand quilting--leave it and just finish with machine quilting the rest. If you did a Stitch in the Ditch type quilting, it would blend well with the original quilting. Just an idea. I think your quilting looks very good!

    The thread you have sticking out in probably basting thread. I know when I first started quilting in the 90"s you basted your three layers together with large stitches that you untied so it was easy to remove.
