I agree ... great find. It has a futuristic look to it.

I haven't seen one like this either. I have a 404 that must have been made about the same time. Mine was purchased in 1962. The color and style is very similar to this machine -- only this one has more bells and whistles.

My mouth is open down to my chest. This is a remarkable find and to have known the owners is just too good to be true. You truly were blessed the day you found this. I am so happy for you!

Heck now, it would not be embarrasing. If you don't follow up, you will always wonder if you missed something good. You ladies have me wanting to hit the yard sale circuit. I am constantly in awe of the treasures you find. Please keep sharing. I love to hear these stories and am so glad you are finding such wonderful items.

I checked Google and one source says that the 404 was first made in 1958. It's advertised as "industrial strength."

SherriB, you aren't 'wasting money' when you go to MickeyD's with your grandbabies...you're having fun with them! And you'll make more memories with your 'new' Singer!

I love the design of that machine. It's gorgeous. What a marvelous find you have.

I have a 503 singer. I bought it new in 1963 and it still
works good. I still sew on it, along with my 8 other machines. I made my children clothes back in the 60's and
    70's on my 503 singer.
