Your MIL is going to adore this! I think you should outline stitch this piece, I'm afraid FMQ would take away from the pictures.

I hardly ever SID because I just don't like doing it, but on this quilt I would SID(or 1/4" from ditch).

Thank you everyone for your input. I will post a picture later today of the finished quilt. I need to put the binding on now.

I think stitch in the ditch so that it doesn't detract form the beauty of the quilt. It is absolutely gorgeous!
