LOL, I think I need to do some searching on quilts from ties.
These are all different kinds of ties. The interfacing keeps them from stretching or distorting because many of the ties are silky, slippery & all are cut on the bias. I'll post pictures of the process.

I LOVE this quilt.

I bought 2 BIG boxes of ties at a Girls and Boys Club fundraiser. I tossed them in the washing machine set on cold, because they were all stained (reds together, blues together etc)- and hung them outside to dry. Then I took out the stitches and threw away the linings.

After that, I treated them like any other BIAS fabric. I've foundation pieced with them - NOT paper pieced, because they need a foundation. I used some of the blocks on a robe for DGD. Unfortunately, no pictures. I still have a LOT of ties left.

Is there a name for the pattern? My daughter in Tx keeps sending me her husband's ties and said when I have "enough" could I make him a quilt? I am absolutely horrified to think of working with ties but I LOVE your quilt and it gives me inspiration...did you work from a pattern designed for and with instructions on how to work with the ties? I need all the help I can get.
