6 point stars are made with either a 60 degree triangle or 60 degree diamond ruler. If you use the triangle. the bottom of the star can be pieced before cutting, much easier then piecing triangles. There are numerous ways to cut your fabric with both of these rulers.

Guess what! I was just searching for something else in BlockBase and came up with another pieced block which is called Twisting Star. (#4165) Its very similar but I am unable to get a pix for you. Perhaps someone else with BlockBase can post a picture for you????

Hey everybody... I Found It! The Paper Piece pattern is located at eQuiltPatterns.com and is named Artistic Santa Ana. It's a 12" block and costs $1.95 for a download or +$2 for a paper copy. It looks different on the site due to being shown in beige and browns, but its what we have been wishing for! Persistence pays... doing a happy dance!

I just finished a quilt with this star. The pattern is Kyoto Gardens in Judy Martin's book, Stellar Quilts. I find it interesting that the same block can have several names. The block is exactly the same as Hexagon Puzzle. I did change the sashing & border because I found the ones in the pattern were too busy. This block is not paper pieced but is a very easy block to make.

here is the origin of that exact photo. No pattern is offered, but you could contact her. Or we can keep looking. Is it in the 1000 quiltmakers block book? where they show you how to make each block......
