    thanks quilting cat. I was getting around needing about 240ish squares. just wanted to make sure i was doing my math right. thanks.

    I would measure the bed, the top and how far you want it to go down on each side and end. That will give you a more accurate measurement. Mattress' are all different sizes now and bed heights are also different. So best to measure.

    unfortunately we don't have the mattresses for the full size bed yet and my son is using it still. it is one of those convertible cribs that will turn into a toddler bed and a full size bed.

    I'd say about 72 squares set 8x9. Both are beautiful. I would have kept the one she did too.

    I'd go with charm packs It's quick and easy and no math necessary. ;)

    other than figuring out how many you need. hehe. I think that I will go with the charm packs. save me cutting time and any time saved is wonderful. Now I was also thinking of using the 10" layer cake in the center as sort of a medallion effect for the quilt. but not sure yet. who knows what I will end up with when it is all said and done. hehe
