I'm not very good on choosing colors. I need your opinion. I want to make a Bargello quilt. What do you think of these colors? Do I need a white/off-white in there somewhere?
Thanks for any help.

Or is this one better? I rearranged the colors and added a white.

I would put some white in somewhere.

Love those colors - I struggle with the same problem - I have had the best luck by talking with the owner of the LQS - she really knows her stuff - sorry I am no help at all but I do love bargellos and those are very pretty colors.

I think white fabric would bring out the beautiful blue prints you are planning to use. :)

I like the first arrangement of blues best with a white added in.

After I did my first and only bargello so far I realized I needed to make my focus fabric be at the bottom to make the undulations stand out more. Now our pattern was just a simple V shape so I think a lot depends on how many undulations you plan on using. Also I think that the top photo has 3 fabrics on the right side that appear to be the same value. If so you won't see a color change. Hope this helps a bit. I know I played with my fabric for about a week before making the final decision.

That's a whole lot of medium going on there. I would add some much darker blues, and some more almost whites.

One trick that might help you evaluate -- turn your photos into grayscale (black and white) and you will be better able to tell if you have enough contrast happening.

I like the blues you have chosen and I think the second arrangement with the white would be a good choice.

I love the blues that you have chosen, but I think that you would be happier with the results if you had more contrast in the colors of your fabrics. So many of your fabrics are almost the same color that I think you may lose the bargello effect. Maybe some more of a variety of prints similar to your blue daisies and your blue swirlies. Or some more very light blues instead of all of the medium blues that look so much the same.

They are beautiful fabrics! You just need more variety and contrast in color.
