What an appropriate pattern! I'm sure she'll love it. ATM-at the moment-I hadn't heard that one before.

Beautiful quilt! Are all the pieces cut seperately? Or are the two diagonal pieces in the middle of each quarter block made in a quick way? I'm looking at the grey and red and white block in the bottom left of your picture. I hope you understand what I'm asking. I really love this quilt.

All are individual pieces. The diagonal ones are sewn like in an upside down L. l is the bottom piece and the - is on top of the other. Draw a line diagonally from upper left corner to the lower right corner of the top piece. that is your sewing line, trim off to 1/4 inch seam.

I love your choice of colors. I've never heard of the block before. We are Dutch and so proud of our heritage I'll have to try to find that pattern. Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt with us.

they have a kit to make a lap quilt. I bought the kit to get the instructions and extended it with my own fabric choices. http://www.discountsewingsupply.com/...ills-at-night/
