Henry, that looks like your grandma's star quilt pattern, very nice! I like the yellow one. I'm trying to attempt a pattern like that too, but you're braver than me lol

You are correct! It is made from the same material as hers was made and she helped me. :) She had the material stashed in the top of her closet. I was so glad to get some of it. :):) I just sent an email to my aunt so she can see them tomorrow. :)

I do not know if it has a name. I will have to ask my grandmother when I speak to her today.

Really nice! Did you use a diamond shape for the stars?

She doesn't remember the name of it. She saw it in a book one time back in the late 80's or early 90's.

I think it is called the LeMoyne Star.

Here are directions from Simply Quilts and shows how they used the diamond shapes.

Nice work Henry, but that's exactly why I'm chickening out and using a modern method for the quilt I'm working on for my nephew. I need seven of them (in two sizes) and needed them done (like yesterday!).

Are you putting these beauties into a quilt for her?

Steve, i love your new avatar...i've been wanting to try this star pattern too, but the thought of trying to set in the outside triangles and squares has stopped me. So i love your photo...is it strip quilted or paper pieced? Did you make that, it's beautiful!
PS Oh my gosh, i just realized your gold corner pieces are going to come out as small stars, wow!
