I went to yard sale saturday and found this lovely sewing machine that was in perfert condition. Although I did not need another machine, I could not pass it up. A big whopping $5. does anyone know anything about this brand of sewing machine and is it a keeper? Precision De Luxe model 202. It did not have a manual and I do not know how old it is but all painting and metals are in perfect shape. Does anyone know anything about this machine

It looks like a Singer clone to me. There were many companies out there that bought Singer machines and badged and painted their logos on them.

It looks like a Singer 15 clone. These were mostly made in Japan and are good machines.

Welcome to the board and welcome to the world of vintage sewing machines!! I will tell you like this, they are like potato chips you can not have just one. I am fixing to hit the century mark with my collection and I do not see me stopping yet!

The machine is a Japanese 15 and you will see that it will become your all time favorite machine to use, I know that mine is. And the quality and tolerances are way better than the Singers. As far as the year it was made and by who (it is more than likely a badged machine) will be really fun to find out but maybe in a few years after I get a little deeper in my research we will be able to figure it all out.

If you want a manual for it just go to the Singer site here and download the free manual for the model 15.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have another vintage one that was my aunts in a bent wood case but never use it. These machines are the ones i learned on. since you are such a collector, have you ever come to charlotte north carolina and seen the vintage sewing machine collection that John Fox Company has. It is amazing. If you order parts, then I am sure you have heard of it. Thanks so much for the information and link. happy sewing, jo

That is great! I live almost on the race track! Although I can appreciate the sportm It's not my favorite time of the year but i have learned to live with it, I have even worked at the club and it was an experience. John Fox Co, is in charlotte right off I-85 near the airport. You may want to call them and make an apointment to see their museum or collection, It is really something else. I think they have every machine that was ever made. A great collection!!!. have a safe trip to Concord NC. Let me know if I help you in any way.
