I have a couple of favourite friends that I love to go fabric shopping with. We like to pick a project then go shopping and then get together to sew.

It's funny how different our projects turn out to be.

Last weekend we made bags. We drove down to Skagway (Alaska) and picked out fabrics for a new bag. My one friend picked gorgeous dark denim blue fabrics with seashells...my other picked beige and rusty coloured batiks. I being the least elegant of the trio picked some fun fabrics and made a new bag to hold my knitting!!!

Danger, woman knitting!!!

I think you made a great choice. Sheep for their wool and skulls and crossbones for all the mistakes we make.

First thanks everyone, it's just such a fun bag.

Suze, the pattern is called Alaskan tote with a Twist! It's a store pattern from Rushin' Tailor's Quilt Alaska ( www.quiltalaska.com ).

Sandra, I bought these grommets right at the quilt shop www.quiltalaska.com (Rushin' Tailer's QuiltAlaska) when I bought the pattern.

Oh I should mention, this is the smaller bag, the larger one doesn't have grommets but sewn in straps. My friends made the larger one to take camping (can hold towels and all the things needed for when finding the showers at the campgrounds).

Either way, you only need 1 yd of fabric for the body (I used two half yards and b/c I did the smaller one I had lots left over) and 1 yd for the lining. and 1/4 yd for the strap.
