Yes, changed color to match each piece, then continued with the green for swirls. The vines were stitched four times (out, back, out, then back)

It is beautiful and looks so easy. I also went to the site you had posted. Question- is this washable- such as to use it on a quilt- or will it fray?

I know what you mean. These are tiny applique pieces and I changed to match colors, so I never ran out of bobbin on the applique. The whole piece measures only 16" x 16".

Because the stitches were so close to the raw edges, there is no worry about raveling. I don't know if I would do this method on a full bed-size quilt, but she does have other patterns for larger quilts and they're fantastic!
