Default New Quilters?

I am visiting my 4 DGKs in the midwest for a couple of days. I brought my ole backup machine and some scrappy squares. Yesterday, I got to spend the day with them while the adults went to work. When I asked who wanted to learn to sew, three piped up. The two younger girls made small quilts and the 16yo boy mended his favorite pullover. The youngest is a fashionista and when I told her I was giving her the machine, her face almost broke with huge smiles and gratitude. I taught them quilting terms, how to wind a bobbin, and how to use the seam ripper. The youngest liked ripping and took all of the stitches out of our practice piece! I asked DGS if he is going to tell his guy friends that he sewed the shirt himself and he replied "For sure!" LOL

That is a skill they will carry with them their whole life. How fun they get to spend time with grandma. Love it.

Sweet grandkids and great skills for them to learn.

I love to see young sewers!!! Several of my granddaughters like to sew too. I encourage them when every I can. You are right! The time they spend with you sewing is time well spent. They learn a life long skill and have quality time with you. It is something they will never forget.

So true! Even if they just use it to hem pants and mend, it's a skill worth having.

Love your story of your visit with grandkids, and especially their interest in sewing. Love their projects, too. And what a nice machine you're giving to the youngest!
