A new table centerpiece
#21
I have been trying to figure out what I want to put in the center of a round table that I have and nothing has appealed to me until now! I love your colors and this specific design! I just bought it at Annie's! Your piece is so lovely. Thank you for sharing. Any tips that would be helpful along the way?

dont ( Over think) your fabric selections- I had put it aside many times because I was unable to choose fabrics. When I finally decided I was going to make it- just to see how it worked out I didn’t think about colors- being ( cohesive) I just chose some scraps big enough to fit the template. I did change one fabric after I fused all 8- there was one red I didn’t like & I retraced that one onto fusible and grabbed a different fabric.
Im generally terrible about following a pattern/ directions but this time I did- followed step by step. I used the Pellon 987 fusible fleece the pattern recommended ( they start with Bosal but then offer 2-3 different options. I just happened to have the Pellon on hand.
I used my printer and made a copy of the templates, rough cut them out, glued them to cardboard ( I use those white thin cardboards you get in shirts- clothing) then cut them out - 2 copies of the big leaf- one with the corner cut. That way I have the templates for tracing as often as I want to make another one.
I am so so happy with the way it turned out- choosing fabrics/ colors I truly didn’t think would go together. My thought process to choosing— well, purple and orange are ok together- need some yellow, they are leaves, need a green, oh...I really kind of like these 2 teal( ish) printed Batiks, they have plenty of my colors....
like I said to begin with- Don’t Over think it. I really think the success is in the spontaneity.
I look forward to seeing yours.
