Hi guy's here is my top, now I need to put on the border but I want to close up the sides, so I need your help

1-Should I put a strip of alternating squares around the top to close up the blocks ( in the 2nd picture) before I do the border.
2- For the border should I use the yellow or the flowers or should I get a solid color like a dark rose or burgandy.

I have no advice for your borders, because I have never made an Irish Chain. I just wanted to say that I think your quilt is gorgeous!!

1 - i would. i think irish chains look best when they're "complete" and balanced at top and bottom

2 - either the flowered or from any one of the darker colors in the flowered

that'll be 2 cents, please.

Think I would choose the flower pattern or just a solid burgandy. If you have to buy the burgandy then the flowers for sure it will make it pop.

I think I would go with the dark rose or burgandy to match the colors in the floral print for the border. Good luck choosing!! I'm sure it will be gorgeous whatever you choose. It's a really beautiful quilt.

Yes, do the completer row of yellow and burgundy flowers, it looks very nice that way. I would think a border of the burgundy would be wonderful.

It's beautiful Craftybug! I think I would make a triple border with the floral in the middle & solid burgundy on either side, with the solid parts being narrower. To me the solid would 'stop' the pattern & frame it & the floral would make it pop!

I would close the chains with a narrow dusty rose colored border and then do the floral for the outer border. :)

Hi, I took all your suggestions and here are some samples of them. I did not have burgandy so I used the white so picture it in burgandy. Here are 3 pics.

one is thin flower strip to close the blocks the white strip with the color squares and the bottom strip is the flowers, maybe with yellow or white for the binding.

one is wide flower strip to close the blocks followed by a wide white strip with the color squares, binding would be flower fabric.

one with a not so wide flower strip to close the blocks followed by the not to wide white strip with the color squares, binding would be with the flower fabric.

Guy's is time to vote for your favorite.
