Default Newfoundland Quilt Block

I have been hunting for a Newfoundland Dog block for over a year now. I really dislike appliqué which was all I could find and because of the black on black nature had no idea how to conquer it myself. Last year my bff jokingly said her newf was jealous when I gave her a quilt featuring chihuahua’s which also live in her household, since then I have been contemplating a newf quilt. I had finally decided to make her a bookshelf quilt with a picture of one of her newf’s on a shelf.

Much to my surprise I opened an email from “Seriously I Think it Needs Stitches” and found myself looking at the Newf of my dreams......OK it was really Fang from Harry Potter but if I skipped the teeth it would be a Newf. https://www.kellifanninquilts.com/ I made my first block this afternoon.......the plan is 5 Newf blocks and 4 red flower type to make a quilt. Christmas present figured out!

Here is a Newf Block! In real life the grey is much darker......

Cute block. It was great that you were able to adapt a different block to make the one you've been searching for.
Now your friend's Newfie can't be jealous.

Nice. Post how you use it in a finished quilt item.

I love it!! But then I also love newf's! One breed of dog I never had but always wanted. I got a great big smile at this block. I am sure you bff's newf will love it.
