Ok, so I cut up my strips and layed them on my design wall, but something just didn't work for me...what was it...walked away came back and it's my #5 color which goes between the dark colors in the heart..it just wasn't light enough...so I switched it out for a lighter color...I don't have alot of yardage, so this was all I had. So I cut a 2" strip and put it in #5 slot and it looked ok. Then my Fiance' came in and played with # 2 and #3 and said there I like this combination #5...NO NO he doesn't know what I'm making, just that I was cordinating colors...so here is the end result. which one set #4 or Set #5 the difference is # 2 and 3 are switched around...I know I'm gonna drive you all crazy...sorry about that....

I think on set 5, switch #2 and # 5 and see what you think.
I like the # 5 fabric in set #4 better.
Of coarse I don't know what you are going to do with the strips, and that makes a difference in placement!!

If I was to switch out 2 and 5 I would have the same problem...#5 should read light between 4 & 6...I agree I just love #5 in set 4 and that was my orginal but it read to dark IMHO....that is y I am struggling with this...as you can see that fabric 5 is between 4 & 6 in the design pic I'm making...oh hum maybe I should just go with set 2 from my orginal post here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-72151-1.htm

I like set 4 better, but my best advice is to do what the board experts tell you. When I did my bargello, they told me to take out one color. I thought I knew better than they did, so I left it in. They were right. The strip they told me to take out is too harsh for the quilt. Live and learn.

Set #4 is more subtle than #5, which look are you thinking will be best for your quilt pattern?
After looking at your pattern some more, I think #5, as in your pattern the lights really stand out against the darks....
The 5th strip in #4 is going to blend in with the others, and I don't think you will get the distinctive look that is the same as in your quilt's picture.

Do you know what bugs me about set #5, color #5 is the right lightness I require, but I think it's the pattern of it...all the other strips are so lightly patterned and #5 is really patterned...ok oh hummmmmmm I'm going crazy...so if I get the chance, going to take my strips to town and possibly get another #5...sheesh......

Sometimes I use the back side of a fabric to get a lighter tone - would this work for you? Another thing to ponder...
Just think if we didn't have to stress so much over fabric choices how much more sewing we could actually accomplish
:P
