That looks just beautiful, you are lucky to have talent in the Family.

So glad it inspired you. It was more work than it looks. We can't get larger pieces of oak here so he had to join several pieces together, align them all, sand it all smooth, router the edges for that nice "rounded" finish, add a light stain & then put the protective finish on.
The treadle base is higher than others I have seen but it's a lovely base. He cleaned it up, spray painted it black & voila, a gorgeous restoration. I believe the machine was a 221 & I have it decorating one of my sewing rooms.

You're certainly right there. He has done so much work in my 2 sewing/cutting rooms to make them useful & "pretty" for me to create in that I tend to forget how "lucky" I am that he is so talented & extremely supportive of this quilting hobby of mine. I know that a lot of ladies are not that fortunate but they still manage to create wonderful masterpieces on their own. Thank you all for your wonderful comments.

How sad that many people would thrown the cabinet out. This is a wonderful way to save a piece of the past and make it modern. You've done well -- as has your husband. Thanks for sharing!!

Beautiful! My DH is also a wood worker and makes furniture. He made a gorgeous cabinet for my machine, which I love. I have one treadle cabinet complete with working machine, but also have a second cabinet minus machine. Right now it's being used as a bedside table in the guest room. The cabinet is in good shape so I won't mess with it, but I love your idea of removing an old ugly, broken one and making a table from the base. Very clever!

Looks great, I used a beautiful oak kitchen cabinet door to make a top for the sewing machine stand I have. Got the door at Home depot out of a can of odd pieces for $15.00. finished..
