Question Opinion: Thick or thin border?

I'm still working on my husband's memory quilt and can't decide if the outer border should be 1.5 inches (same width as the lattice and diamond border) or 3.0 inches (twice the lattice and diamond border). Any opinions?

I like the look of the wider border. Your quilt is very nice.

like the wider border.
Nice quilt.
I like the 'button' squares...are they parts of his clothes?
Where did you get the fabric that has the words...or is it embroidery....or sections of tops?

The button and pocket squares are from my husband's shirts. (He died last year.)
The squares with words I designed and had printed by Spoonflower (www.spoonflower.com). When I tested printing on fabric, that the ink washed out too much. For those squares, I took pictures of my husband's shirts and use the picture as background.

If I needed the extra fabric for size I would go with the wider border. If not, I would go with the first picture and then red binding. Or if I wanted to do a fancy feathered quilted design on the large blue border I would go with that OR.....yep no help at all am I?

both look great. maybe go a little bigger than the thinner border to square the quilt if you have to.

I think the wider border balances the quilt blocks. You have made a beautiful quilt.

The wider border gives you more quilting options. I like it - nice job.

Nice quilt. I like the wider border. I think it makes the diamond border "pop" more.
