A lot of good suggestions have been made so you have options to experiment with. Your piecing and curves are perfect, drunkard's path is one of my favorite patterns because there are so many ways to lay it out. Keep us posted as to how you finish up.
This is my suggestion, as well.

Nice ~ but I think I would add a "stop type" border before the floral border.

The quilt is gorgeous but the geometric pattern overwhelms the floral border. Sarah's idea of a complimentary or IMHO a contrasting color between the quilt and the border would really add to this already stunning quilt. You can showcase these ideas by folding the fabric and placing it where it would go and see what you like. Good luck. Your quilt is beautiful.

What makes this a modern quilt? I would not interpret her fabrics as modern and DP is a traditional pattern. What is it that makes it modern?

Agree with many here responding suggesting the white border before the outsider border. You've been offered lots of ideas and suggest you just be sure that you are happy with your final decision.

How about a plain white border? Or a subdued swirl pattern white tone on tone. That maroon will be too hard to match. Especially if it fades over time.

I'd like a solid maroon small border then some contemporary print for the outside border. Do you have enough scraps to make some sort of pieced border for the second border? But as I said earlier, I love the quilt and you did a great job on it.
I agree also.

I didn't know that the drunkard's path pattern was a disappearing 9 patch. Learn something everyday.
