When my friend was opening a LQS she asked me if I would make a quilt with pattern and fabric she gave me. After the fabric line was sold out, the quilt would be mine. The fabric I chose was Art Gallery and the line was Gypsy Jewels. Being pretty traditional, I used this opportunity to sew out of my box. That being said....I love my box and do not feel any need to change. Anyway, here is my quilt. It measures 47.5"x55.5". It was machine quilted by Shirley Barter. I loved the 2 blocks individually, but together, not so much. Then the borber fabric almost did me in. But amazing things happen. The binding tied everything together and I love my out of the box quilt.

It's a beautiful quilt- I always say that a quilt is greater than the sum of its parts.

You are so right. It always amazes me how different a quilt looks at each stage. And after a quilt is quilted, even one that is just so so, it is fantastic. Never saw a quilt that I did not think was wonderful.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Shirley is a wonderful custom quilter. You can see her quilts at

She quilted a quilt for me and it received 2 blue ribbons. One for the quilt and one for the machine quilting. She moved from Texas to New Mexico recently. Thank goodness for the postal service.

It is beautiful. Hard not love something you work so diligently with for that amount of time.
