Default Painting fabric to make a wholecloth quilt

I have only a little experience with painting on fabric, but a few weeks ago I tried a new technique using foam stamps to put color onto white fabric. I am interested in how some of you have used paint to color quilts either before or after quilting.

Here is my completed project which was quilted after painting:

There's a book called "Quilts of a Different Color" that might be similar to what you've done. Some years ago I took a class from Velda Newman. Her books are helpful. I've used it to stamp and paint. Have used it on cheesecloth, buckrum and printed fabrics. Some paints are opaque, they can't be seen through
I've used prisma color pencils to highlight areas. They accent the veins in the leaves and highlight the daffodil. These are translucent.

I've used Inktense to color areas. There is no piecing/applique, just Inkense and some tuelle. Since it's ink, when wet it can bleed. The type wetting agent used makes a lot of difference. These are transparent.

I've also use sheva paintsticks. They're totally different than paint.

I used Shiva paint sticks to add leaves to this wall hanging, I was really happy with the result.

petthefabric, I love your quilt which you also showed on a thread recently. I use Inktense pencils, too, along with aloe vera gel as the moistening agent. What are the measurements of your daylily quilt? You did a beautiful job quilting it with ghost images of leaves, etc.

I started with GAC900. I also used Delta Ceramcoat and aloe vera with better results.
