DebraK, have you tried using glue baste it on those long stretches. You can place it exactly where you want, then press and stitch. It holds better than pins, and while it is still damp, you can readjust until it is located exactly where you want it

Agreed you can also just stitch those crucial intersections then make sure it is where you want. If it isn't you only have a small area to take out and resew. If it is where you want, it keeps things from shifting around when you stitch the whole stretch.

i wondered about using glue. I've tried basting with a longer stitch first, but that wasn't working as well as I thought it would. I see improvement and learn a little something with every piece I do, so I will keep trying different things.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will try that too.

No Kidding? Where 'bouts? I'm about an hour west of Abilene and about an hour east of Midland/Odessa. We've already had some awful hot weather this year, and thankfully getting a little rain now too
