    passion purple/pevert purple

    Name: passion purple.jpg
Views: 2551
Size: 188.6 KBName: pervet purple.jpg
Views: 2549
Size: 258.0 KB The quilt on the left is called Passion Purple. I made it for my DIL Kerry Olsen-Steece as a Xmas present. i placed the quilt on her bed when she wasnt looking and then distributed written clues that lead her on a scavenger hunt throughout the house looking for her Xmas gift. Upon finding the quilt, she burst into tears of happiness. She had mentioned wanting a quilt by me in Sptember when i asked about birthday gifts but never thought i would have time to make one for Xmas.
The bargello basket weave is called Pervert Purple--mainly due to finding a mistake in piecing the pattern After I had quilted most of it. Decided to leave the mistake and not try to correct it. It is also a Xmas gift--for my daughter Anastasia (also a member of this board). She was totally surprised as she had no idea it was in the making. She lives with me so as she headed to work each day, the quilt came out of hiding for a few hour each day to be worked . I was afraid i wouldnt get it done in time but the quilting went faster than I had hoped.
I have decided after rushing these Queen-sized quilts to be finished (I started last week of September on Passion Purple and first of November for Pervert Purple) that I am sick of looking at purple so if any more purple quilts are needed any time soon, it will be called Persuasion Purple with the persuasion being in terms of lots of green.

You are so funny, Rose! And clever, too. Can only imagine how hard it must have been to keep hiding Anastasia's quilt from her.

Persuasion purple...with lots of green! Haha! I felt that way after working with a lot of browns and tans for my sister's log cabin. (I think I mumbled to myself, "Love is the only reason I'm working with these colors!")

Purple passion has a beautiful backing. Is Pervert Purple the same fabric? Both girls are really lucky to receive these gifts and looks like they appreciate all the time and love you stitched into them. Thanks for sharing.

They both came out great. I would have loved to see her searching for her present. That was a wonderful idea. I bet you smiled the whole time.

Different fabrics used for each quilt--pervert Purple is white and 6 prints from light to dark and separate print on back. passion purple was white with 2 plain and a print for front and separate print on back

What wonderful Christmas gifts for your two ladies. It's obvious that they were loved & will be cherished all their lives. Congrats to you for pulling these off without them knowing about it (especially the one for your daughter). Thanks for sharing your beautiful work with us.

Great finishes. For the future, I think purple and green look go well together.
