Thank you for all of your wonderful comments. I truly enjoyed designing and piecing this quilt. The eagle was puchased as a kit from BigFork Bay Cotton Company. $62 for kit with pattern. $14 for pattern only. My next quilt will be a storm at sea block quilt with a picture of the Mackinaw Bridge in the center. I will also include a mariners compass block somewhere. Just a design running through my head at the moment.

I put the eagle together on my applique pressing sheet. Then proceded to make the background, ironed it on and then appliqued it onto the quilt. I just sewed the center of the quilt first so I wouldn't have to deal with all of the extra bulk.

Thank you for your kind reply. I just ordered the "soarin' eagle" pattern. I don't know what I will do with them yet, I just know I love eagles. I also want to do the storm at sea quilt. It's fun designing quilts around a theme.
