    "5,500 Quilt Block Designs", by Maggie Malone has it as Crown of Thorns, Georgetown Circle, & Memory Wreath.

    thank you again all for your replies to my query. After seeing the name Crown of Thorns, that is one I have heard before. Maybe if the maker contacts me I can ask if they know what they thought it was.
