LOL. Just saw your reply or it just registered. Some of the fabrics on the sashings on the left side of the quilt as you face the photo are so badly worn that I can't even wash it and it does need to be washed after sitting on the shelf for several years now. So far though, I just can't bring myself to cut it up. Even when I do pull it out to show people, it is striking and people compliment and praise it and I don't think they are just being polite either although one lady (a decorator type person) told me it was "dog pad material now, cut your losses and cut it up." Thank goodness I did photograph it. This photo had an ugly vacuum cleaner hose showing under the bed that I cloned out before posting. LOL. Like my avatar, the 38 year quilt, I keep thinking that one of these days, I'll do something with this quilt. I do have a friend who has a business of restoring old quilts but so far I haven't had the courage to ask her what I can do as I honestly don't want to pay her to restore it - the back is way too big a mess thanks to my stupidity at trying to machine mend with a zig zag stitch. Now, on the rare occasion a quilt needs mending, no matter the nature of the need, it is HAND MENDED. I'm good at hand stitching and can handle that. Live and learn. Thank you for your sweet input and I am thinking about what can be done with this as it truly is a treasure to me even if it is rolled up and held in place with a bungee cord at the moment.

    Thank you Karen,
I've been watching your many posts. Love your avatar and everything you have taken the time to share with all of us. You are one very talented lady. Where in Indiana are you located. I'm originally from Peru/LaSalle, IL just of I-80 but have since relocated to central FL, The Villages and love it here.

Thank you. You can read about the one in my avatar and how it came about and how very long it took to complete at:

If this doesn't work, lool for Patty's 38 year quilt. There definitely is a story behind my avatar.
