The stars on the July wall hanging are wood craft shapes. I used a big button and marked the holes and then made the holes with a nail and a hammer. I painted them with craft paint.

These are really cute. So what exactly is the "pencil series"? Is it something you made up or an on line quilt along or a book or what? Also I am curious, these are obviously a set with very specific size requirements. So what do you use them for? Are they table toppers or door hangings or what?

Queen: How did I miss these? Love what you did. Each one really does capture what I think of for the month. Now I have to go find the others.

I named it The Pencil Series after I made the second one and realized they were the perfect size to use a new pencil in the hanging pockets. I knew I had a piece of dowel rod and I was going to cut a piece down for these and I happened to run across a new pencil when I was hunting for the dowel and it was perfect. To begin with I was making the smaller ones to hang by my front entry. I had the larger ones hung over my cookbook bookcase. But then things happened and now I hang them in my cubical at work.

I'm like Emma--I missed these, but they are just as cute as can be. Literally "pencil" quilts, too.

They are all so cute, what a great idea of naming them pencil quilts. How clever!!
