Yours are so nice looking. I have made my dogs dish quilts out of 40's kitch prints since that is where they eat. They do cheer up the floor so I them made some for on top of the microwave. Who knew there were so many places to place a quilt.

We use a large cafeteria type tray. Works just fine until one of us plants a big foot in the middle or trips over it. Boot tray sounds even better.
