Quilt of Valor

Quilt of Valor
For my oldest brother. When I was born in 1945, I had 5 brothers in the service. Four in the Navy and one in the Army. I just cannot imagine what my dear Mother went through let alone being pregnant with her 12th child. This quilt is for my oldest brother, Rod..he's 92 and very active. I included pictures, one of Rod in his uniform, one of the 4 boys in their uniforms, one of three of the boys that I'm guessing they were in basic, and one of the U.S.S. Arkansas, the ship that Rod was on. I'm going to present it to him this next weekend when we have our family reunion. I'm so very excited but I know too, that it will be an emotional time. I also made a pillow for my sister(in-law) with pictures of her and Rod when they were a young couple.

Priceless. Beautiful quilt. Looks like it was a lot of work. You can tell that a lot of love went into this quilt. Please show us pictures of when he receives this quilt. You are a wonderful sister to do this for him. Special to include your sister-in law. BrendaK

"Priceless" is a good description! I would also love to see pictures when he receives it. I'm going to our Quilts of Valor "sit and sew" tomorrow. (every Tuesday) We cannot thank our veterans enough! As you said, I can't imagine what your mother went through either!!!
