Default Thomas's memory quilt

We haven't finished anything of our own in a while, but a friend asked me to work on a quilt for her to give her grandson as part of his wedding gift. This woman is like my 2nd mom, and my sister, brother, and I grew up with her son and daughter. I was at the hospital the day this young man was born, and he and his sister were in our wedding. I can't believe he is graduated from college and married - the wedding was yesterday.

She had someone else make the top, and we quilted and bound it. We had never used "bought" binding before but she had already purchased it so we gave it a go. We actually really liked it and we loved the width. We'll probably make wide binding for some of our own quilts in the future.

    Thanks for looking.

    Darren

Lovely quilt. I personally like wider bindings. It looks great.

Great color choices on the quilt. I'm sure your quilting and binding were the "icing on the cake" and she loved it. Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful, thoughtful gift! And it's just beautiful to boot! I'd never used wide binding but I sure do like the way it looks on this quilt, so maybe I'll give it a try. How wide is wide? I usually cut my strips 2.25" or 2.5" & make a double fold binding from it. How much larger do you think I should cut my strips?
