Just to answer one or two questions, my earlier patchwork was in the English style of making shapes (e.g. hexagons) by tacking the fabric to small paper templates and joining by hand sewing.
I still like doing that, as it's really relaxing in front of the T.V., but I also like using my machine.
Hence this quilt here was done by machine, and the fabric used was a "Layer Cake", which worked out really well.
I used 100 % cotton wadding.
