Yes i know where Leigh HS is. Next year we are going on Thursday as Amtrak is 1/2 the price of Friday travel, plus hopefully not quite as crowded. I keep looking at the few pictures I took and think about what I could try that would be similar to some. I love the art quilts and perhaps I will travel in that direction for awhile. Have a wonderful week.

I was going to attach some photos, but my camera takes too much detail and the bytes are too many. In order to fix this, I have to crop and that would defeat the purpose. Did you notice the art quilt with the little girl reading in the woods? The quilting had a dog and an Indian and 2 full length people hugging. Just beautiful and you would not notice unless you got up close and personal. Also the one of a dog that was the creator's pet - all done in thread painting. Absolutely amazing!!! Oh so many pretties!!!

These are beautiful!! I took a class from a woman who was teaching how to make the first one (can't recall her name at the moment). I didn't finish the quilt in the class and haven't taken it up since. I'm still a bit intimidated but I MUST get back to that quilt!! Wish you'd share more pictures from the show if you have some.

I have made half of the Venice Rose as well. It need to finish it. I loved the show and only took a few pictures to inspire me or check out the details on how they were created. I am in love with the purple one that now I know is called the Bali Wedding Ring. I have seen lots of wedding ring quilts but this one with the star as well is over the top. I see you can buy the pattern on line. I will think about it, but first finish the Venice Rose.

how i envy you, murphy1. could not make it this year so appreciate the pics.

the closest i got was a trip to some galleries during "second saturday". we went to see merle axelrad-sirlin at her gallery here in sacramento. she visited our guild last year. does large art installs. here is her web site http://www.axelradart.com/

fun to see her sitting at her work table with a gigantic art quilt and her regular domestic sewing machine.

see you next week murphy. we will create some of our own art work, right.

The photos are great, but when you are standing in front of these quilts it is truly breath taking. This was my second year of going. We only went one day and it was like running a race to to see all the quilts and get to some vendors. Of course the quilts are the stars of the show. The complex is huge and there is a lot of walking.
I did notice that prices are skyrocketing. Almost everything I bought last year are almost 5 to10% or higher this year. One pattern I bought last year for $9.00 was $12.00 this year. Yikes.
I also carry a empty water bottle and fill it from water fountains as I need it. We also carry in our own food. The food was very costly and we want to save our money for products. Even on Friday the event was very crowded.
