Many thanks for the nice compliments, everyone. I am picking out fabrics that will match the decor or dishes for each of the recipients who will get these placemats.

I make all of the Christmas gifts I give. I started doing this about 10 years ago when I realized that most of the people on my Christmas list can easily afford anything to buy anything their hearts desire (and they do). So, now I spend my time creating things they can't buy. Some day I hope they will realize that I thought of them while I made each gift and invested a lot of love in the process. That day is still in the future, but hope springs eternal.

Ok I have to get busy with the Cotton Theory! Those are awesome placemats. I think I will make some too for Christmas gifts. I just won some whites and blues and I think I see something awesome forming in my head. Nice job!

They look great! Did you do the quilt as you go method?

Cute, cute, cute!

I also have started making a lot of gifts, and for the same reasons. Partially, it's selfish because the gift gives me hours of enjoyment in the planning and making of it! I mainly feel that the recipients of my gifts are kind and generous with compliments because they love ME, but...oh, well.

Yes, Cotton Theory is a quilt-as-you-go approach. This particular project uses straight lines of quilting. Easy peasy.
