They were hand sewed and VERY out of shape. So i used my 10 1/2 in square to square them up and was able to attatch sashing to stablize them. Here is the result:

Beautiful. I would have wanted to make 2 separate quilts from them. I just recently had a similar situation and will post when I finish attaching the binding. You are wonderful to do that for your boss. : )
