Well talk about being nervous..lol My boss gave me a bunch of blocks that her grandma had put together years ago and asked me to please put them togather for a reversible wall hanging. There were 2 different block sets and i looked at them and thought "mmm challenge". Once i got them home however i was sooo scared i almost backed out. lol Then my cousin "Artistic Design" as she is known here came over and boosted my courage. They were hand sewed and VERY out of shape. So i used my 10 1/2 in square to square them up and was able to attatch sashing to stablize them. Here is the result:
p.s--Thanks So Much Cuz!! My boss LOVED it!!!! The first side The reverse side |

Wow! You did a fabulous job! :)
|
Wow, you did a great job! I like both sides. I am glad your boss liked it. Now your boss has to decide which side to display first!
|
Love it. I'm glad she really liked it - why wouldn't she

Just think, those blocks sat around lonely for decades because no one:
1.) felt they were worth the effort; 2.) could figure out how to "fix" them; 3.) wanted to be bothered. Then you took them on and saw a silk purse where there was a sow's ear! No wonder your boss was happy! Great job! Jan in VA |
What an awesome quilt! You should be very proud of yourself. I know that it was a daunting task but you definitly pulled it off. Good job!
|
Wow! That was worth the effort. More than a wall hanging, though, you could get cozy under that quilt.
|
YOu did a wonderful job!
|
beautiful!!! I always seemed to be drawn to the more vintage looking fabrics & blocks.
|
Lovely and I am just drawn to the block in the second photo. Anyone know the name of it? :)
|
Wonderful job! Beautiful quilt. I inherited my mil's stash and ufo's years back and am still trying to do something meaningful with them. It just isn't happening very fast. It doesn't help when you are not fond of the fabric choices she used. I finally grabbed some blocks and started a quilt as you go to just get one finished.

That is wonderful. I'm so glad you jumped in a did it. I can see why your boss loved it. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Thank You all soo much for your wonderful comments!! I to am drawn to vintage blocks but unfortunatly i don't know the name of blue side. My cousin calls them "grandma quilts"
She is more into modern art quilts so togather we make a good team. lol I Have another quilt top that my mothers aunt gave me a long time ago but it's a king size and all knit? The fabric is VERY strechy and i just dont know how she sewed it together so well. I think i'm going to get a wide backing and take it to my friend (she has a longarm) to finish. I will post it when finished. Thank You all again. |
how nice

Beautiful keepsake for your boss. How did you do the binding for the reversable quilt? The colors match each side of the quilt.
