Such a simple pattern, but so beautiful. Did you use a pattern, or come up with the fabric placement yourself?

Eddie, Did you cut your strips into shorter lengths before you assembled it? Did you do it in the one long strip method? Then fold and sew, fold and sew, fold and sew?

Calico Grammy 08-09-2010 09:05 PM

Eddie that is just beautiful. All of your work is always so perfect. What sort of work did you/do you do besides creating master pieces? Do you have a background in art or have you just been blessed with this wonderful talent? I always look for your posts first and they are always gorgeous.

annette1952 08-09-2010 09:10 PM

Fantastic quilt as usual! I love the panto you quilted on there. I still can't do pantos but then I haven't practiced much either. I bet Olivia loves it.

Yes, I did cut the jelly roll strips in half before I started - I wanted the top to have a scrappier look than just using the long 42" pieces. After cutting them in half, I used the pattern from the site here which is to just sew them all end to end, then sew the sides together, cut, sew again, cut, etc.

I'm a software designer by day, I've been doing that for about 25 years now. I design software design for a major firm that does software for the banking industry. I do have an art background, I took lessons from several teachers in my twenties, and did paint (oils, watercolors) quite a bit. So the color thing comes easily to me, and mixing in the design aspect of my work helps as well. :)

katsewnsew 08-10-2010 04:21 AM

That is sooo nice! I love the color combinations, that collection of fabrics is beautiful. This type of quilt is also on my loooooong list! k

Can you tell me what pantogram is?

A pantograph is a repeating pattern than comes on a long roll of paper. You lay the roll of paper on the frame table and use a laser light stylus attached to the quilting machine head to trace and follow that pattern so that the quilting is done in the same pattern.
