It was a really good project, but as I mentioned it was difficult finding a good variety of leaf patterns - perhaps there are more available now. We didn't put any limits on the techniques to use - just established the block size, and determined the predominant color that was to be used from month-to-month. If we had thought about it, guess we could have done cross-stitch leaves, embroidered leaves, crewel work leaves, ribbon embroidery, paper-pieced, used embellishments, etc.

We were a small club of 6-8 people so that is how many blocks we made each month and everyone took one of the block made by each member. If only 6 people did blocks for a particular month, but we had made eight blocks, then we each had 2 extra of the blocks we had made. There was a wide range of fabrics used from solids, to plaids, to batiks, to small tone-on-tones and that coupled with the colors and variety of leaf patterns used from month to month made for a quilt with a lot of movement. Just really wished I had gotten pictures of the quilts done by the other members - every setting was different, and the quilting done on each was different too. They were all beautiful.

Magnificent!! I am a flower and plant lover, so both of these would be right up my alley!! I would give you a blue ribbon on each of them.

Thanks for the compliment. Would really like to see a full sized photo of your avatar. I am "into" Baltimore Album" blocks also - just need to take some photos of the blocks that I have finished - maybe that would also give me some incentive to get back to them and at least make a small wall hanging.

All I can say is WOW! Really great quilts. A fall leaf quilt is on my "to do" list. I've been collecting fabrics for just that purpose. I love yours - may have to use that design! Your photo quilt is so unique. I just love it.

Thank you so very much for sharing your stunning quilts. Using the pictures you took has put that quilt into its own dimension. I just love it and want to congratulate you on the pictures as well.
Enjoy them both. Excellent work

Gives me an idea as to what to do with all my photos of flowers. You did a beautiful job with the arrangement of the pictures.

Both quilts are stikingly beautiful!

So, let me get this straight - the 1st quilt is all photos you took (except the 1) and transferred onto fabric???
Is there a learning curve to be able to do this? Can you recommend a book or tutorial??

Web sites are wonderful for gathering info. I have two books that I refer to for transferring photos to fabric - Photo Fun - Published by HP Invent and Blending Photos with Fabric - Pub. by Electric Quilt Co.

You need to have some sort of a computer program (or be able to do it from your printer) so that you can send a photo to your printer. You probably also will want to be able to size it and do some other things with it. If your photo is not on your computer you need to be able to scan it in to your computer - or take it to a business that can scan the photos and put them on a disc for you. It is really helpful if you have some sort of a photography program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements so you can enhance the color (or bump up a black and white picture). You might also need to sharpen, cleanup an image, make it smaller or larger etc. None of the above is difficult to do, and I image there are tutorials on this board that give help/advice. Sure is a lot of fun to be able to do "just a little" more with your quilting.
